Acupuncture works by identifying imbalances in the flow of Qi (vital energy) in the body, then using precise points to restore balance and support the body's natural healing process. At Zen Quest Wellness, an acupuncture clinic in downtown Vancouver, we explain it plainly. The body is a small universe. Your symptoms are signals from something underneath them.
What the needle is actually reaching
Your jaw tension, tight hips, and shallow sleep often trace back to something your body has been holding, sometimes for years. A well-placed needle can help ease the tension.
As it does, the symptoms connected to it can begin to ease. This is why a point in the wrist can change something in the chest. The body is a deeply interconnected system.
Two traditions, one explanation
Traditional Chinese Medicine describes this as moving Qi, the body's energy, along channels called meridians. Modern research says acupuncture can stimulate the nervous system in ways that may help settle an overactive stress response and ease tension held in the muscle and fascia around it.
Both traditions name the same event from different windows.
Why it works for some people and not others
Acupuncture affects everyone differently, as each person's condition and response to the treatment is unique.
Two practitioners can use the same points and get different results.
A considered session looks underneath the symptom for its source, before selecting the points.
How Zen Quest Wellness works
Every first session begins with an in-depth intake. Our practitioners are registered with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC. We choose them for presence as much as credentials.
Based on the intake, practitioners outline your unique underlying pattern and treatment. For what a needle alone does not reach, we also offer consciousness-based work such as BodyTalk as additional treatment options.
